Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. Kotero was the female lead vocalist for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The 1980s saw the singer-actress Prince named Apollonia was one of the many female performers who gained from working with the prince. Patricia Kotero is a Californian actress born in Santa Monica, California in 1959. Her early career included being a model on television. The lead female character in Prince's Purple Rain was her first performance in 1984. Prince changed the girl's name at this point. She replaced Vanity with the female duo Vanity 6 who performed in the movie in the role of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. She made more of an impact on the charts as Prince's partner on Take Me with You, a duet from his soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince after the two fell out about the fate of Apollonia 6. Kotero went on to be featured in several minor films during the period (reportedly declining to appear as a character in her Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) before landing a role on the night-time television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia could finally launch her debut album in 1988. It didn't leave a lasting impression on music lovers and was soon obliterated from the scene. In the years following, she continued to work as an actress (if she was a bit under the radar) as well as a couple of film roles, television appearances and an exercise video. Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish entitled Stay with Me in 1997. Later, she returned to the school and earned a filmmaking degree which led to her forming a production company, often working on children's television. Apollonia is employed in a variety of roles.
